The Shanghai Dragons have acquired former Seoul Dynasty DPS player Kim “Fleta” Byung-sun.

The franchise revealed the news on Twitter.

“We formally announce Byung-sun ”Fleta” Kim as a new member of the Shanghai Dragons Family,” the Dragons said on Twitter. “As a prestigious DPS free agent…Fleta has officially joined us, and we expect the almighty ‘Tower Bro’ to bring more glory to the Shanghai Dragons, which is returning to its home field in the 2020 season.”

Because most Overwatch League transfers were leaked before being officially announced this offseason, the news came as a surprise to fans.

Fleta announced his free agent status shortly after the off-season started. Fleta played for the Dynasty in both of the previous seasons of Overwatch League. He also competed in both All-Star games, as well as the 2018 Overwatch World Cup with Team South Korea.

The Dragons now have a scary DPS lineup with the addition of Fleta. He joins an All-Star frontline of Yang “DDing” Jin-hyeok and Bae “diem” Min-seong, who have both been retained by the Dragons for the 2020 season. With such a stacked group of DPS players and the overlap in hero pools, the Dragons should be able to call map audibles to great effect.

Fleta is an incredibly flexible DPS player, which made his free agency a shock to many. While the Dynasty had a good run in season two, they have come up short of the expectations pinned on them as the only Korea-based team. This was especially the case in the first season, where they failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Dragons are one of the few teams with a completed roster for the 2020 season.

The addition of Fleta establishes Shanghai as one of the best teams in the Overwatch League from a talent perspective. While they didn’t make the playoffs last season, they did win the Stage 3 finals and finished 11th overall, a massive improvement from their winless inaugural season.

The deadline for teams to confirm their roster is November 15 and fans are sure to see more movements in the next few days before the deadline.
