Matthew Lillard, who plays the villainous William Afton, recently shared some thrilling news about Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 that’s sure to delight fans. The 2023 adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s brought a beloved video game to life. This thrilling film won over audiences despite being simultaneously released on Peacock. Firstly, the movie followed the story of Mike, a night guard portrayed by Josh Hutcherson. Being that, Mike had faced a terrifying ordeal involving haunted animatronics. Correspondingly, with the success of the first film, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is gearing up to expand on its spine-chilling world.

Matthew Lillard confirmed that he will be reprising his role as William Afton, a character who delivers the ominous line, “I always come back,” hinting at his inevitable return. Lillard expressed his enthusiasm during an interview. He followed, “To have a franchise like that is very exciting… I’m coming back, that’s good.” This confirmation is just the start of what promises to be an action-packed continuation of the series.

A fan-centric and action-packed return

Lillard revealed that the sequel aims to address fan feedback from the first movie. He shared that creator Scott Cawthon, has been receptive to criticism and is set on making improvements.

“Here’s the great news – I think the fans fell in love with what we did… the filmmakers listened to some of the criticism… and they’re growing.”

Production and release details

The original cast, including Josh Hutcherson, is set to return, with filming scheduled to begin in November. Additionally, Director Emma Tammi, who led the first film, will be back at the helm.
