When the first
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
trailer premiered in September 2021, fans caught a glimpse of an entirely new Kirby game unlike anything seen before. The open-world levels and Waddle Dee village are all-new additions to the Kirby franchise. But what really blew everyone’s mind was seeing Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee fishing.
Yes, Kirby can and will fish in his new game. But what does this mean? What is the purpose?
Kirby and the Forgotten Land trailer shows fishing footage
Kirby fans were only given a brief snippet of Kirby fishing but it’s a sight nobody will ever forget. In the footage, Kirby is seen casually fishing without a care in the world, smiling while holding a fishing rod. Most importantly, Kirby sports a floppy tan sunhat, looking like a sporty grandpa who spends every weekend fishing with the boys.
Waddle Dee is fishing next to him, looking every bit as nonchalant and relaxed. A Waddle Dee is also in the background sunbathing. From the minimal context in the trailer, it seems that fishing takes place in the Waddle Dee village.

It’s not yet clear what fishing entails in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It’s possible that it’s a mini-game or that the items pulled from the waters will provide power-ups or other benefits. While the Kirby fandom is unsure what the fishing experience will be like, there is no denying that it’s the best thing to have ever happened to the internet.

Kirby fishing is a mystery but it’s no secret that it’s wholesome, amazing, and adorable. Fans have already started
