Ex-Team Liquid tease new Dota 2 brand before DreamLeague Leipzig

Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi and the rest of the former Team Liquid squad are set to return to action in the near future.

The squad that took second place at The International 2019 took a well-deserved break from competition during the MDL Chengdu Major cycle. The team is set to return for the DreamLeague Leipzig Major, but the big question for the players is what banner they will be playing under during that time.

Answers to that question remain elusive, but seem to be coming soon. The players have been taking to Twitter to tease a new organization. All five have posted short GIF files to their Twitter that show them standing on desolate, alien planets and staring up into what appears to be a black hole. They have also changed their Twitter banners to simply show the black hole.

No other details were given and it is unclear what the organization will be named or when more information will be given. That said, the team should be a force in European Dota 2 in the near future.

While we don’t yet know the name of the organization, the Dota 2 squad that split from Team Liquid following The International 2019 is set to remain intact.

At the time, news of the team splitting off from the organization was a surprise.

“When Kuroky told me about their plans in the wake of TI9, I couldn’t help but think about my own journey from professional player to team owner,” said Victor “Nazgul” Goossens in a statement following TI9. “After four years under the Team Liquid organization, our Dota team has decided to pursue this new dream: To build a team of their own.”

The team has been almost completely silent since then, with the only announcements coming through KuroKy himself on Twitter following ESL One Hamburg.

“A small update from us: We will announce our new organisation before the next Major/Minor qualifiers, the team stays the same. Thank you for your patience,” KuroKy said.

The rest of his teammates would then retweet the notice.

In the weeks since, Team Liquid signed the former Alliance Dota 2 roster, which had a pair of rough outings before posting a respectable top-six finish at the MDL Chengdu Major.

Though an exact date for more information on KuroKy’s new team isn’t known, more information should arrive imminently. The qualifiers to the DreamLeague Leipzig Major are set to begin on December 1.
