New information has surfaced about Squid Game Season 2, one of the most anticipated Netflix shows.

This South Korean Netflix show became an instant sensation after its release in 2021. The show follows the story of common people who find themselves in a perverse survival game.

Squid Game inspired other shows, like MrBeast’s own Squid Game and Netflix’s Physical 100. While these versions are good entertainment, they are no replacement for the original show.

What happened in Squid Game season 1?

After surviving the Squid Game, Seong Gi-hun claimed the prize. As he is headed to North America to be reunited with his daughter, our main character gets off the plane with a determined expression.

Many believe that Gi-hun might be looking for vengeance. We know that after the passing of the original creator, the games are still going.

Squid Game season 2 release date

It’s been confirmed that the new season of Squid Game starts shooting in the summer this year. The primary photography for the show will take at least 10 months.

Post-production for the show might take between 6 and 12 months. Adding all of this up, we might be looking at a 2026 premiere for the show.

The reason for this timeline is the scale of season 2. The show is doubling down on every detail that caught the attention of the audience, making it a bigger and better season.

What character will return in Squid Game season 2?

Squid Game season 2 will be full of new faces. After season one, only Seong Gi-hun survived. The rest of the characters, including the young policeman investigating the Squid Game, died.

Gong Yoo’s character, the charming man recruiting players in the subway, might make a return. This is the only recognizable face from the Squid Game that can be found in the outside world.

New cast members are likely to be announced once the show starts shooting the next season.
