After a phenomenal performance at ESL Pro League Season 15, ENCE is once again reminding CSGO fans how EZ tournaments can be.

After clawing its way through a very difficult group stage and an even harder playoffs bracket, ENCE is now a contender for the top tier of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive esports. The team took home $90,000 after a competitive 1-3 loss to FaZe Clan in the grand finals. While usually overlooked as a podium team, fans are wondering how this squad flew under the radar. With all that in mind, who is ENCE CSGO in 2022?

Most fans think of the team’s glory days in 2018 and 2019. During those seasons, ENCE earned 14 podium finishes at major events with several championships. Now the team sports an entirely different roster with players from all over Europe. The team’s core has generally struggled to place highly at larger events since early 2021. Fifth place at ESL Pro League Season 14 was the best they achieved until the circuits next season.

The squad entered ESL Pro League 15 as a profound underdog. The first signal of a deep run came early in groups when the squad defeated eventual champions FaZe Clan 2-1. It followed that up with more big wins over Team Vitality and the rebranded Virtus.pro squad. ENCE’s playoffs run started with a swift 2-0 over Fnatic and ended with another clean sweep over Ninjas in Pyjamas. The squad wasn’t able to repeat its feat against FaZe Clan in the grand finals, but it was still much better than most fans had hoped for.

ENCE’s CSGO roster in 2022

Listed below is the starting ENCE CSGO roster in 2022 after ESL Pro League Season 15.

maden is the most recent addition. He joined after departing FunPlus Phoenix in January. The rest of the lineup joined a year earlier in 2021.

Is ENCE still a Finnish team?

ENCE no longer has any Finnish players on its starting roster, but the team’s coach and organization staff are still mostly Finnish.

ENCE was previously an all-Finnish CSGO team during its top-tier tenure with Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen at the helm. However, the team underwent multiple massive restructuring starting in late 2020. ENCE churned through eight players in 2021 alone before settling on its current roster in January 2022.

The team currently fields an Israeli, a Dane, a Montenegrin, and two Polish players. Coach sAw is the only remaining Finn on the active roster. While no longer the full-Finnish team it once was, the organization is still based in Finland. The sponsor claims to be the most successful and most-followed esports team in the country.
