Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski had better like burritos.
The Team Liquid star has been white hot over the last few months and he didn’t cool down at Intel Extreme Masters XIV Chicago. In honor of his performance, the player won the group stage MVP award at the event and a year’s supply of Chipotle food to go along with it.
The moment where he was bestowed the honor of unlimited Mexican food was captured on Twitch:
Though the award is somewhat silly, there is no denying that EliGE is as deserving of free meal as anyone in Counter-Strike today.
The Liquid star has been lights out over recent months and has arguably been a bigger part of the team’s rise to the top than even the much-heralded Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken. He has posted a number of exemplary performances in key series during Liquid’s hot run including his gargantuan 78-49 series score against Astralis at the ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals and his exceptional run throughout ESL One Cologne.
He was no less impressive in Chicago. Liquid started their run in the event by trampling Team Envy, with Elige going 33-23 as Liquid took 16-1 and 16-6 wins to close out the series in short order. From there, EliGE once again flexed on G2 Esports, going 63-50.
Those strong numbers helped Liquid coast their way into the playoffs in Chicago, but EliGE didn’t slow down from there.
Possibly inspired by his year’s supply of Chipotle, EliGE once again came up huge for Liquid in their semifinals series against Team Vitality. He racked up a number of key multi-frag rounds for the squad en route to a strong 2-0 victory over the French team.
Liquid would go on to place yet another trophy in the team’s case with a dominant 3-0 win over ENCE in the grand finals.
