Evil Geniuses’ Dota 2 team has again proven to be the scourge of China.

Evil Geniuses eliminated three Chinese teams in the lower bracket to continue their run at The Chongqing Major.

EG had a dominant run in the lower bracket of the tournament. The team was pushed out of the upper bracket by Virtus.Pro only to turn around and stomp South American side Thunder Predator 2-0 fashion. This win set a date between EG and top Chinese team Vici Gaming.

Zhang “Paparazi” Chengjun made his mark on EG’s heroes in the first game with a 16/7/9 KDA. The second game was close initially, but VG’s attempt to pick-off Gustav “s4” Magnusson’s Timbersaw led to a bloodbath that the Chinese would regret. Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan’s perfectly timed Sanity’s Eclipse knocked Paparazi’s Terrorblade out of the game to seal a win for EG.

Evil Geniuses chalked up another victory in the deciding game, led by a stellar performance from Sumail’s Outworld Devourer.

The NA team’s momentum continued when they faced the Bucharest Minor winner EHOME. EG’s aggressive play enabled the side to run rampant over the Chinese team on the way to a clean 2-0 sweep.

EG then faced Chinese favorites PSG.LGD in another elimination series. The live crowd in Chongqing was wild as both teams fought for their tournament lives. PSG.LGD initially had the upper hand with their team fight oriented draft, but EG was able to flip the game around.

With huge critical hits from Artour “Arteezy” Babaev’s Phantom Assassin, PSG.LGD’s cores were soon dropping quickly whenever a brawl would erupt, leading to an EG win at 31 minutes.

EG opted for a middle lane Timbersaw for Sumail in the second game against Lu “Maybe” Yao’s famed mid Kunkka. Once again, PSG.LGD showed their dominance in the early game in building a 20-kill advantage.

However, a pair of crucial late game team fights went in EG’s favor, and soon PSG.LGD’s defenses were collapsing in spite of their earlier advantages. The finishing blow was soon delivered as EG completed their run through China’s best Dota 2 teams.
