DRX overhauls roster for 2025 season, here’s the new lineup
DRX is committing to another major overhaul of its League of Legends esports roster after a brutal flop in the 2024 LCK season.
Chronologically speaking, DRX was recently a world championship organization. It probably doesn’t feel that way, though.
The former King-Zone DragonX organization has undergone multiple roster reboots in the two years since winning the Summoner’s Cup. It’s no surprise that the organization is looking to reboot its roster. The team has confirmed three new signings and a new head coach for the 2025 season.
DRX adds Rich, Juhan, ucal and Ssong for 2025 LCK season
DRX has announced the signings of a new top laner, jungler, and mid for the 2025 season. It also confirmed Kim “Ssong” Sang-soo as its new head coach.
With this move, DRX’s starting roster for the 2025 LCK season will likely be:
- Lee “Rich” Jae-won
- Lee “Juhan” Ju-han
- Son “ucal” Woo-hyeon
- Park “Teddy” Jin-seong
- Son “Pleata” Min-woo
The trio of incoming players are all returning to the LCK after playing in other regions. ucal returns after three years in the LPL with ThunderTalk Gaming, none of which yielded particularly strong results. Rich began playing abroad in 2022, going from the LPL to Dignitas in the LCS. Juhan returns after a year in the LEC with GiantX.
DRX has not signed any new players for its bottom lane, with Teddy and Pleata seemingly set to return. DRX is also yet to make any official moves for its 2024 top, mid, or jungle players. Lee “Frog” Min-hoi, Bae “Sponge” Young-jun, and Song “SeTab” Kyeong-jin all remain attached to the team.
The roster overhaul follows an ugly 2024 season for DRX.
Despite its 2022 World Championship victory, DRX saw its roster completely dissolve just days after the event. Its entire starting roster departed, with only support player Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee and coach Shin “Shine” Dong-wook rejoining. While a new squad came together, DRX went from being a middle-of-the-pack LCK team to being near the bottom.
2023 saw DRX sputter to 9th place in the LCK Spring Split. A 6th-place finish in the summer split was good enough for a spot in the LCK Finals, but the team was the first elimination after being swept by Dplus. Things went from bad to worse in 2024, with the team finishing ninth in both splits.
The organization underwent an ownership and leadership change midway through 2024, with eDreamWork acquiring the organization and a new CEO being put in place.
