Dream mask reveal

Minecraft star Dream is known for having a very toxic community — and this time they are turning on him. After a dramatic face reveal, Dream said he is putting the mask back on due to all the trolling and harassment he’s been receiving.

Dream is one of the biggest YouTubers out there and definitely the biggest Minecraft YouTuber. He currently has over 31.6 million subscribers on Youtube and is known for his passionate young audience. Despite being so popular, Dream was only known for a smiley face mask until 2022.

In October of 2022, Dream finally revealed his face after months of hinting and teasing. At the time, he did receive a lot of trolling for his appearance but also a huge influx of support from famous content creators and fans alike. Social media was going crazy.

Now, Dream is putting the mask back on.

Why is Dream wearing a mask again?

In a video titled “bye, from Dream,” Dream showed the constant harassment he received about his face on YouTube videos and on social media. Still, he tried to use some humor in a skit where his friends urge him to put the mask back on to make him relevant again.

“Am I that ugly?” he asks.

“Yes!” the friend insists.

While Dream tried to make the situation lighthearted, he was clearly hurt by the ongoing bullying and regretted the extra attention. He told fans that he was going to delete his face reveal video and any photo of his face from social media and basically act like it never happened.

Dream will now be wearing a mask full-time — at least while streaming. The same company that made the masks for many major superheroes, including Spider-Man and Batman, created a high-quality 3D mask for him to wear comfortably.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to those that supported me, even though I am ugly,” Dream said. “I appreciate you all more than you could ever know and I will be working on my face while I’m masked again.”

Dream fans react to mask reveal

In the tongue-in-cheek video, Dream’s friends told him he has to wear the mask reveal 24/7. In response, Dream asks if he can no longer do IRL events. This could be a reference to the upcoming VidCon Anaheim event, where Dream was set to be headlining later this month. Now it’s unclear if this will still be happening.

In response to the mask reveal, fans seemed angry at the hate and harassment that Dream received. Many pointed out that Dream was handsome and not bad looking, calling out haters for trying to make him feel bad. Others questioned the maturity of people who would try to make Dream feel bad about his appearance.

“Waited four years to see this man’s face and to see him live with his best friends and it’s sad that people have ruined it,” one fan wrote.

Another said: “It’s kinda ironic how, for years, the community wanted Dream to take the mask off but it seemed like as soon as they got what they wanted, they demanded for him to put it back on… This really shows how you can never please everyone and the people saying Dream is ugly are jealous of how beautiful he is. We will always love you Dream, mask or not.”
