Dragon Ball Super Fortnite event adds Gohan and Piccolo

A new Dragon Ball Super Fortnite event has been announced, coming on January 31, 2023.

The Dragon Ball series has already collaborated with Fortnite before, with an event in 2022 bringing several iconic characters and items from the show to the battle royale. It seems that the first event went swimmingly, as Fortnite’s developer Epic Games has been teasing another Dragon Ball-themed collaboration. According to a posting on Twitter, the new event will arrive in Fortnite on January 31, 2023.

New Dragon Ball Super Fortnite event

The new Dragon Ball Super Fortnite event has been teased by Epic Games with a posting on Twitter that included a Red Ribbon Army-branded spaceship soaring over one of the game’s islands. With the Dragon Ball Super logo plastered on one corner and the only accompanying text being “1.21.2023”, it’s quite clear what’s happening at the end of the month. Epic Games has begun to announce more details about the event heading into its beginning, including character skins, items, and custom maps.

The previous event brought Goku, Vegeta, Beerus, and Bulma into the game as playable skins for Fortnite players to purchase through the Item Store. These proved wildly popular and were seen all over lobbies during the event and immediately afterward. Fans immediately began to speculate which Dragon Ball Super characters would be brought in as skins for this new event. Given the Red Ribbon Army ship shown in the teaser, many suspected that there would be at least one member of the evil organization added.

Which Dragon Ball Super characters are being added?

The two characters already announced for the new Dragon Ball Super Fortnite event are Gohan and Piccolo. The other question on many fans’ minds is whether the Red Ribbon Army, or its cover Red Pharmaceuticals, will take the place of Capsule Corporation from the previous event. During the last Dragon Ball event in Fortnite, two key items were deposited onto the map, the Kamehameha and the Nimbus Cloud. These items will return for the new Dragon Ball Super Fortnite event.

Will you be able to watch Dragon Ball Super in Fortnite?

The previous Dragon Ball event in Fortnite involved not only a lobby where you could train to become a Saiyan warrior for rewards, but also the ability to watch full episodes of Dragon Ball Super inside custom lobbies. In these lobbies, players were set up in large Dragon Ball-themed theaters where they could run around while watching full episodes of the show. For those wanting to focus in on the show, there was an area inside the theatre where entering it would put the show in full screen and block out sound and visuals from the theater proper.

Given that Epic Games seems to be a fan of custom lobby experiences for many of their collaborations, the ability to watch full episodes of Dragon Ball Super in the new event seems quite likely. That’s everything we know about the new event.
