In 2020, Herschel “Dr Disrespect” Beahm IV was mysteriously banned from Twitch after signing a multi-year deal with the platform. We may now know the possible reason behind the ban if notable community figures are to be believed.

Dr Disrespect’s permanent ban in 2020 caused quite a stir since the reason behind the ban was never revealed. While fans continued to speculate possible reasons, the two-times moved to YouTube, the then-rival of Twitch, and continued his streaming journey. Among many speculations, one popular one was that it could have been a DMCA strike. But credible reporter Rod Breslau scratched it off.

A former Twitch employee has disclosed the reason for the ban of a well-known streamer, and it is suspected to be Dr Disrespect. The two-time has responded to the fresh accusation.

Why was Dr Disrespect banned on Twitch?

The reason for Dr Disrespect’s ban in 2024 is still unknown. However, Twitch’s former partnership manager hinted that a streamer was banned for sexting with a minor. According to Jake Lucky and other reporters, it is possible that Dr Disrespect was the streamer in question.

“He got banned because got caught sexting a minor in the then existing Twitch whispers product. He was trying to meet up with her at TwitchCon. The powers that be could read in plain text. Case closed, gang,” Twitch former partnerships manager Cody Conners said.

This post rapidly gained traction within the Twitch community and among journalists, some of whom asserted they had also encountered the rumor. However, they were unable to substantiate their claims due to the absence of primary sources. One such journalist was Rod Broslau, who, at the time of the ban, said that he wasn’t comfortable sharing it due to “sensitivity around the subject.”

He has now posted a simple yet cryptic post on X.

Whether these journalists are alluding to Dr Disrespect or not, the streamer himself has acknowledged the post and responded to it.

“Listen, I’m obviously tied to legal obligations from the settlement with Twitch, but I just need to say what I can say since this is the fucking internet. I didn’t do anything wrong, all this has been probed and settled, nothing illegal,” he said.

This was his second response to the whole fiasco. He had initially replied to Jake Lucky’s post, saying that no wrongdoing was acknowledged. According to Dr Disrespect, he had been paid in full for his Twitch contract as well.

It’s still uncertain how the situation will unfold. Up to now, fans have been demanding evidence and further information from public figures who said they were aware of the cause behind the ban.
