One of the biggest influencer scandals of this year was undoubtedly the downfall of Dr Disrespect. After being one of the most popular creators on Twitch and later YouTube, he was exposed for sending inappropriate messages to a minor during his Twitch days.Â
In the aftermath of this, Dr Disrespect lost many followers, was criticized by fellow creators, kicked out of his own gaming studio, and even lost his YouTube monetization. Now, however, it seems he’s trying to make a comeback.Â
Dr Disrespect has officially re-applied to be monetized on YouTube. This was revealed on his Twitter/X page where he shared a photo from his application. The message says that his reapplication has been completed and that he will know in about a month if he’s been successful.Â
After taking several weeks off as the scandal exploded, the streamer has been back on YouTube for a while and is trying to get his income back. Demonetization means that he can’t make money from streams or accept donations, which can be a setback for any creator.Â
Since the upload, the internet has been divided about whether this will be successful. After all, Logan Paul was famously demonetized after his suicide forest upload back in 2017 but eventually, got his privileges back. On the other hand, creators like James Charles have been demonetized for years and he has millions of subscribers.Â
But even if this reapplication is successful, Dr Disrespect will still have a long way to go before his career can be redeemed. Several sponsors like Nike and the NFL dropped him when the news broke and it seems unlikely they’ll walk back on their decision. Then there’s Midnight Society, the gaming company he helped to found, that fired him.
Interestingly, during a recent stream, he said that he plans to be back at the studio in due time.Â
“I just got a feeling. Just give it a little bit more time. We’ll be right back in it. We’ll be right back in it, champs. Just give us some time. Not a problem,” he said.
With this sort of bold claim, we could either see a major comeback story from Dr Disrespect or he could remain a pariah due to his inappropriate actions.
