Dota Pro Circuit will return to Croatia for Dota PIT Minor 2020

Croatia will host the next Dota Pro Circuit minor tournament. One Game Agency will bring another event to Split, Croatia.

The organizer has announced the AMD SAPPHIRE DOTA PIT Minor 2020, which will take place ahead of the 2020 Epicenter Major. The tournament will be the fourth minor event of the season and is important for any team aiming for a coveted direct invite to The International 2020.

Eight teams from the major’s regional qualifiers will come together and battle for victory. The winner of the minor event will receive $72,000, 140 DPC points, and a ticket to Moscow.

The minor tournament serves as a second chance for teams who failed to qualify for the major event. Although the journey is longer than usual, the rewards make the hardships worth it.

Last year, Peter “ppd” Dager’s Ninjas in Pyjamas claimed the title at OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019. The team bested EHOME in a grand finals nail-biter.

The coronavirus outbreak is a big strike to esports events

AMD SAPPHIRE DOTA PIT Minor 2020 is set to happen from April 23 to 26. However, the postponement of the ESL One LA Major might affect future Dota Pro Circuit events.

Recently, the United States announced travel restrictions for people coming in from Europe due to the rise of COVID-19 cases. This translated to the postponement of several esports events. The cancellation of the ESL One LA Major will likely result in a tidal wave of issues for the Dota Pro Circuit, and it’s anyone’s guess how future events might be impacted.

ESL told fans that it’s looking for a new schedule and location to host the major event, but it is unclear whether the tournament organizer will be able to pull this off. It also comes as a bit of a surprise that the Dota PIT Minor 2020 was announced at such a sensitive time.

If the coronavirus situation doesn’t get better, The International 2020 is at serious risk of being postponed as well. Fans are hopeful that the pandemic will end sooner than later.
