Hanwha Life Esports recently presented its 2021 LoL roster, including two big names: bot laner Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu and mid laner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon.

Deft and Chovy joined HLE together after playing together on DRX throughout the 2020 season. The two star players will now be joining forces once again on HLE, which is looking to build up a new strong team around the two.

On DRX, the two stars managed to reach the 2020 LCK Summer Split final, where they lost convincingly to the newly crowned world champions from DAMWON Gaming. It secured DRX a ticket to the 2020 World Championship, where Deft and Chovy was once again knocked out by DAMWON, this time in the quarterfinals.

Even though DRX didn’t manage to achieve its goals in 2020, Deft and Chovy are still big names in the scene that can boost the Hanwha Life brand a whole lot. HLE has not had a big impact in the LCK in 2020 with two bottom finishes, which is why they are looking to go all-in for the 2021 season.

Besides the two star players, HLE has signed former Team WE top laner Park “Morgan” Gi-tae, who has proven himself as a talented player in the LPL this year. In the jungle, HLE will likely be fielding Kim “Winter” Yo-han after he has spent a couple of years in the Korean challenger league with Gen.G Academy and Spear Gaming.

Chovy and HLE looking to be a dark horse in 2021 LCK season

HLE is heading into the 2021 LCK season with a really young lineup, with a lot of promising talent. Led by veteran Deft, this team could potentially become the next dark horse in the LCK.

The biggest name on the team is without a doubt Chovy, who has been considered one of the best mid laners in the world through the 2020 season. While Chovy has already been to two Worlds twice, he is still only 19 years old with a lot of potentials to grow. Once again, he will be the main carry of the team and the rest of HLE will likely look to play around him.

He performed great on DRX but didn’t quite have the team to back him up and go all the way. On HLE, it might finally be Chovy’s time to shine even though the competition in the LCK is tough.

The new HLE squad will debut when the LCK returns at the start of 2021.

Chovy

How old is Chovy?

Chovy is currently 19 years old and entered the LCK back in 2018 with Griffin. Chovy is one of the youngest players to ever play in the LCK and at the same time one of the biggest talents. He managed to qualify for the 2019 World Championship in his rookie season and has since then been a big profile in the LCK.

What role does Chovy play in LoL?

Chovy is a mid laner, a role that is mainly known to play mages or assassins. Chovy’s job as a mid laner is to individually outclass his opponent and be one of the main carries of the team. A mid laner is often a play-making role, that the jungler will give a lot of attention.
