Damwon Gaming’s Geon-bu “Canyon” Kim became the first jungler to get a pentakill in the LCK this weekend.

“It was kind of out of the blue when I got that pentakill,” Canyon expressed in a post-game interview.

In the first game of the series against Sandbox Gaming, Canyon completely dominated with Nidalee. By the end of the game, he had an 11/1/3 score. With support from his team, he secured the record-breaking pentakill on the fed assassin jungler.

“Just give it to him! Please! We need a middle lane penta!” the casters exclaimed, unable to hide their excitement over the action.

Right after the pentakill popped up on the observer’s screen, Damwon marched through the broken remains of the Sandbox base and took down Sandbox’s nexus for the win.

After game one, Damwon was still on a roll. They took the second game to promptly tally a 2-0 sweep over Sandbox.

Damwon Gaming has been on a roll for much of the 2020 LCK Summer Split. This victory has Damwon tied for second place in the LCK Summer Split, sporting a 9-2 record. The team is on pace with Gen G and trails only DragonX, who’ve lost only one game in the summer split.

While Canyon wasn’t really on a lot of fans and analysts’ radars going into the summer split, he’s become an integral part of Damwon Gaming’s success this time around. This latest pentakill served to highlight the impact he’s been having.

With Canyon’s first jungler pentakill record in LCK, Damwon Gaming brought a cool victory!
We’ll show you our best performances from now on.
Thank you for cheering us!

Damwon Gaming will be taking on first-place team DragonX next week. That match, taking place Thursdsay, July 30 at 5 am PST, will go a long way in determining whether Damwon Gaming might be able to catch DragonX for the top spot by the end of the split.
