Dallas Fuel sign new tank player Trill ahead of OWL Stage 3
The Dallas Fuel have promoted Ashley “Trill” Powell from the organization’s North American Contenders roster. The DPS main will next be competing in Stage 3 of the Overwatch League.
“After consistent scrims with the Dallas Fuel and an impressive performance in Overwatch Contenders, Trill is ready to burn blue,” said the official announcement.
The Dallas Fuel outlined Trill’s journey to the Overwatch League.
Trill started competing in early Overwatch tournaments in the Oceanic region. The Western Australian played as a tank for Jam Gaming, which was then uncharted territory for the DPS main. But Trill still managed to become the best tank player in the entire region, leading his teams to top-place finishes in numerous tournaments.
Trill soon secured a spot as Team Australia’s main tank player for the Overwatch World Cup 2017. He played for Australia in the following year’s Overwatch World Cup as well, helping the team to advance to the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Trill competed in Conteders Pacific Season 1 and Season 2 of that same year.
“Despite a devastating 300 ping rate connection for his tryouts for the Overwatch League and Contenders NA, Trill showed amazing promise and gave Envy countless performances to remember,” Dallas Fuel said.
Trill signed with Team Envy’s Contenders team in late 2018, leading the squad to an undefeated performance at the top of the standings in Season 3 of the Overwatch Contenders NA tournament.
“Today, we are thrilled to announce that our very own Trill will be promoted from our Contenders team to the Overwatch League, joining the Dallas Fuel roster as a tank player,” Team Envy said.
Trill is currently in the process of relocating to Los Angeles, where the Overwatch League is based.
The tweet announcing Trill’s promotion included a video of some hype moments taken from his career thus far. Dallas Fuel players showed their support, echoing the sentiment that they were looking forward to playing on stage with their new teammate.
On Twitter, Trill noted that he was sad to leave his friends at Envy behind.
“I love all the boys to death and wish them the best,” Trill said. “With that said, I’m super happy and excited to say I’ll be moving up to play with the Dallas Fuel.”
