Making a living from professional gaming can be very tricky. While it is many peopleās dream job, your income stream can be severely impacted if you get into hot water with one of the big companies.
Chetan āChetā Singh is learning this the hard way as heās been suspended by Riot Games for several months due to a violation.
Chet Singh has confirmed that he will be playing Counter-Strike 2 after getting a five-month ban from Valorant. The ban was announced on October 15, 2024, and was due to a violation of the Riot Games Global Esports Code of Conduct.
According to the official Riot Games Twitter/X account, Chet shared a video-on-demand to a private channel that he wasnāt supposed to have access to. The video was shared on July 31, 2024, and the company has decided that it violated its rules.Ā
Ā āHe did not secure permission from Riot Games, NRG, and the other teams involved prior to broadcasting publicly inaccessible VoDs and communications to his personal channels,ā the post said.Ā
As punishment, he has been banned from the VTC until March 3, 2025. While this is only a five-month ban, it will last until the end of VCT Masters Bangkok.
Several of his colleagues have spoken out against the ban, saying that it is unfair.Ā
Chet, on his part, has taken it in stride. On Twitter/X, heās said that he will be focusing on Counter-Strike 2. Heās retweeted his link for booking sessions and thankfully, he has experience coaching teams for Counter-Strike: Go. And, he says, once, his suspension has been lifted, he will return to coaching Valorant.
On October 23, 2024, he tweeted, āNew act & still bannedā, showing that he is in good spirits while waiting out the suspension.
Still, this situation shows how seriously gaming bodies can enforce the rules. Chet is a former Valorant head coach for OpTic Gaming and NRG Esports and he still got punished for his actions. Now, we can only wait and see how his performance changes once his ban is over.
