Cloud9's Reapered wins 2020 LCS Spring Coach of the Split award
Cloud9’s Bok “Reapered” Han-gyu is the 2020 LCS Spring Coach of the Split.
Cloud9 keeps collecting awards. After its players claimed every spot on the season’s All-Pro Team, it was Reapered’s turn to get recognition as Coach of the Split. Reapered is the coach with the most season awards in the LCS since the pivot to a franchising system. The Korean coach received this recognition previously in 2018 and then again in 2019.
Cloud9 conquers 2020 LCS Spring Split, eyes MSI 2020
In North America, Reapered is a well-respected coach with an unorthodox approach to the game. The Cloud9 coach is known for experimental drafts and giving rookie players a chance to shine on stage. With Reapered in command, Cloud9 has attended the LoL World Championship for four consecutive years.
In 2020, Cloud9 is the strongest team in the league. The organization broke the record for the best regular season with 17 victories and only one defeat. Cloud9 headed into playoffs as the favorite to take the title and is only two best-of-five series away from doing so. Cloud9 started its playoffs run with a clean 3-0 victory over 100 Thieves and is facing Evil Geniuses in the next round.
Reapered is responsible for a lot of the team’s success. The coach is willing to make hard decisions to get the team to the finish line.
The best example of his visionary approach is the 2018 roster changes where Reapered benched Cloud9 stars Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen and Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi. The community had a negative reaction to the decision, but in the end, it proved to be the right call.
Cloud9 will play in the semifinals against Evil Geniuses, with the team being a clear favorite. Though C9 is in a great position, the team has an unfortunate history of underachieving in the playoffs. Without Team Liquid in the picture, Cloud9 has a good chance to snatch the title and represent North America in the upcoming 2020 Mid-Season Invitational.
