Cloud9 pull off dramatic comeback to beat TSM in LCS

Cloud9 pulled off a miraculous comeback against Team SoloMid to remain in second place in the LCS.

Against all odds, Cloud9 found another victory in a match that was heavily in TSM’s favor.

TSM drafted a composition with strong crowd control and poke abilities. This composition included Neeko in the top lane, marking the first time she had made an appearance in the LCS.

The pick proved to be effective against opposing top laner Aatrox throughout the laning phase. TSM played an aggressive style and Cloud9 fell behind in gold even after securing two infernal drakes.

The crowd control from TSM was often too much for Cloud9 to handle. Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik’s Neeko was on split push duty and his early advantage from a winning top lane made him all but unstoppable.

With the map wide open for TSM, the team in black secured a baron 29 minutes into the game and continued to effectively poke and prod against Cloud9. At this point, TSM looked like the clear winner of the match, but the squad hesitated to go for the kill in Cloud9’s base.

That hesitation gave Cloud9 just enough room to breathe and to go for more proactive moves. TSM maintained control of the map however, securing both the elder drake and a baron buff.

Now fully powered up, TSM went for a base breaking siege, but Cloud9 wouldn’t go down eo easily. Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen caught Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg as he rotated from the bottom lane to mid, further delaying TSM’s push.

The final fight then started in the jungle, as Cloud9 killed four TSM members and was able to immediately run it down through the mid lane all the way to TSM’s nexus.

Cloud9 finishes week six in second place with 10 wins, while TSM remains in third with seven.

In week seven, Cloud9 will face Team Liquid. A victory against the defending champions would tie the two teams in first place in the LCS.
