Caps and Mikyx complete new G2 roster
Rasmus “Caps” Winther and Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle have joined G2 Esports, the organization announced through social media.
After weeks of speculations, it was confirmed that Caps and Mikyx are the new members of G2. That is not the only surprise, as according to the team popular mid laner Luka “Perkz” Perković is transitioning to the bottom lane.
After a successful year with Fnatic, Caps decided to change sides and start the new era of the LEC wearing G2’s colors.
With Fnatic, Caps attended the 2018 Mid Season Invitational in Berlin and the 2018 World Championship in South Korea. Fnatic made it to the grand final where they faced Invictus Gaming from the LPL, losing in three games.
As the G2’s new mid laner, Caps is bringing his creative and aggressive playstyle to the new and arguably improved squad.
Perkz will move to the bottom lane with help from Mikyx. The young support player is leaving Misfits after one year. Misfits was briefly out of the new LEC prior to a last-minute confirmation from developer Riot Games.
Most of the players went to find opportunities with other organizations, including Mikyx. He is set to replace Kim “Wadid” Bae-in.
Martin “Wunder” Hansen and Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski will continue as part of the new G2. It is unclear if Petter “Hjarnan” Freyschuss will depart the squad as Perkz replaces him.
2018 was a positive year for the organization with good performance despite the lack of titles. G2 is surely one of the teams to watch for in 2019.
