Fortnite Summer Smash Pro-Am charity event has popular battle royale personalities competing to donate $100,000 to the cause of their choice.
The Fortnite Summer Smash tournament is taking place at the Australian Open 2020 on February 1. Thirty trio teams will be competing, bringing the biggest names in Australia’s Fortnite scene together for a good cause.Â
The following day, 90 top Fortnite players will compete for a chunk of the $400,000 prize pool in a Solo event. Benjy “Benjyfishy” Fish, Dmitri “Mitr0” Van de Vrie, Shane “EpikWhale” Cotton, and World Cup duo winners Nyphrox and Aqua will be among the most popular competitors.Â
Some of the trios taking part in the big charity tournament have already been revealed. According to Australia Open’s press release, last year’s winner Harley “MrFreshAsian” Campbell is returning to defend his title. He’ll be squadding up with YouTuber Lachlan and Sydney musician Enschway.Â
“I’m so excited that we have international players coming to play in Australia and hopefully I can get two Australian Open Charity Pro-Am wins in a row,” MrFreshAsian said.Â
Fellow returning competitors Elliott “Muselk” Watkins and X2TwinsJordan, are teaming up with Australian music duo Peking Duk.Â
“I’m incredibly excited to see the Australian Fortnite community come together for this amazing event. The 2019 AO event was an incredible time, and the inclusion of so many international talent this year should make the 2020 event even more special,” Muselk said.Â
AFL player turned esports competitor Mitch Robinson will be partnering up with Chiefs Esports Club’s Reinhana “slaya” Green and YouTuber Mau. The Brisbane Lions player competed last year as well and expressed excitement about returning.Â
“From playing in front of 95,000 at the MCG, I never thought I’d play a video game on Margaret Court Arena during the Australian Open. In 2019, the arena and the buzz was something I’ll never forget. It was a first in Australia and I’m so excited to be back again at this years’ AO Summer Smash next weekend,” Robinson said.Â
More trios rosters will be revealed next week.Â
Summer Smash tickets are available via Ticketmaster. Tickets are $54 for adults. No streaming information has yet been provided at this time.Â
