Beastcoast signs Anvorgesa before MDL Chengdu Major qualifiers

Beastcoast is back in Dota 2 with a new and considerably less controversial roster.

The organization has announced the signing of Team Anvorgesa. The signing immediately sets Beastcoast up as the top organization in South American Dota 2, and is likely to land it in top tournaments for the near future.

Anvorgesa may not be an immediately recognizable name, but Dota 2 fans likely saw their work at The International 2019. Playing as Infamous, the team made a surprise run to the tournament’s top eight by defeating Keen Gaming and Newbee. While that placement wasn’t extraordinary, it was still an excellent showing from a team that many were expecting to be among the first eliminations from the tournament.

It also served as a statement that the oft-derided South American region is capable of producing world-class talent. Carry player Hector Antonio “K1” Rodriguez in particular was praised for his skill by others in the tournament, though this was overshadowed in the immediate aftermath of the event by his apparent use of racist language in pub games.

Beastcoast CEO Grant Zinn discussed the team’s potential in a statement released on the organization’s website.

“Beastcoast has always been about supporting emerging talent and having fun, and we think this team is the epitome of that approach. Anvorgesa caught my eye at TI9 before they even stepped on to the stage,” Zinn said. “Their growth as a team over the last DPC season, and their will to win are all things that we as an organization want to promote.”

Beastcoast Dota 2 upgrades by signing Team Anvorgesa before MDL Chengdu Major

The signing of Team Anvorgesa is a bit of an upgrade for the Beastcoast organization. The team made headlines last year for signing the roster of North American squad Team Team as it was in the throes of a controversial roster change after it kicked Nico “Gunnar” Lopez and Jason “Newsham” Newsham off the roster shortly after they helped the team qualify for the MDL Disneyland Paris Major. Newsham’s family had already booked travel to watch him compete in Paris when the decision was made.

Beastcoast came in last place at that major, failed to qualify for any other notable tournaments from there, and flopped at such events as DOTA Summit 10. Beastcoast last competed with its North American squad in Midas Mode 2.0 with a stack of North American journeyman, ironically against Team Anvorgesa.

The organization confirmed the release of its other players while also announcing the signing of Anvorgesa.

Beastcoast immediately heads into action in the South American qualifiers to the MDL Chengdu Major. Their journey starts with a series against NoPing Esports.
