Asmongold mocks OnlyFans over prohibiting sexual content

Controversial streamer Zack “Asmongold” always has something bold to say. This time, the World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy player had harsh words for OnlyFans.

The internet has received some shocking news regarding the aforementioned website. Starting in October, OnlyFans may prohibit creators from posting some sexually explicit content. Sex workers will still be able to put up nude photos and videos if they agree with OnlyFans’ new policy, which hasn’t been openly revealed just yet.

“In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform, and continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines,” OnlyFans said.

Some have speculated OnlyFans is having a hard time finding investors and wants to rebrand itself, potentially taking a step back from the sexually explicit content that made the site popular in 2020. Others suggest that a potential ban from banking institutions could be leveled against the company due to concerns over a lack of meaningful oversight on its content.

Many popular Twitch streamers have been heavily pushing their OnlyFans content to viewers, including Amouranth and indiefoxx. These content creators have yet to speak up about the company’s decision, but many in the gaming community have been vocal about a stigma against sex work, which they feel is unwarranted.

One prominent voice in that crowd has been Asmongold.

“OnlyFans bans sexual content. RIP,” Asmongold tweeted. “What’s next? Is KFC going to ban chicken?”

Asmongold seemed shocked by OnlyFans’ decision, mostly because the website seemed quite reliant on its adult content.

“Bro they took 20%. Twenty percent, dude. That’s a lot of fuckin money,” Asmongold tweeted.

But some fans felt differently. A few noted that OnlyFans would rather take a cut of less money than make no money if its lax guidelines proved problematic. According to Axios, some investors admitted they could “get past the porn” but worried that OnlyFans’ “reputation” would prevent it from attracting brand partners.

Despite this possible concern, Asmongold tweeted that he wants to make his own OnlyFans. Other streamers jumped at the opportunity, including Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo.

“We should,” said Mizkif.

While most likely a joke at OnlyFans’ expense, it’s still unclear what the plan is for streamers who rely heavily on OnlyFans for income. Some may go back to Patreon. But a streamer-run site for adult content could be a potential answer for those who are based on Twitch.
