The rumored Apex Legends seasonal battle pass has finally been confirmed.

Respawn Entertainment has revealed the Wild Frontier Battle Pass on the official Apex Legends website. This marks the beginning of a seasonal structure to Apex Legends content, similar to that of rival battle royale Fortnite.

The Wild Frontier Battle Pass will function almost identically to Fortnite’s similar offering.

Fans can purchase the battle pass in-game for 950 Apex Coins, or approximately $9.50 USD. From there, buyers are given a handful of items upfront including new skins for Lifeline and Wraith, as well as the Mirage Outlaw skin. More items can be acquired by leveling up the battle pass, which is done through playing the game. Rewards include new skins for weapons, Apex Packs, and even more Apex Coins.

Players who level up their battle pass to level 97 receive enough Apex Coins as rewards to purchase a battle pass for the next season. Players can also purchase the battle pass bundle for 2,800 coins, which gives players the first 25 levels of unlocks.

Though rewards earned through the battle pass are kept indefinitely, fans only have until the end of the season to earn any desired items included with the pass.

While the Apex Legends battle pass is heavily inspired by Fortnite’s, there are several key differences between the two. The biggest is that Apex Legends’ battle pass is not directly tied to various “challenges” as is the case in Fortnite.

In Fortnite, the most efficient way to level up a battle pass is to complete daily and weekly challenges. For the most part, these are straightforward goals like outlasting 200 opponents across multiple games or opening a specific number of crates. Challenges occasionally become  more elaborate, like visiting several remote areas of the map or damaging enemies with multiple specific weapon types within a single game.

Respawn Entertainment’s community manager explained this decision on Reddit.

“While we think there’s really cool design space in quests and challenges for future battle passes, we wanted the initial version to allow our players to just play and learn the game,” Jay “JayFresh” Frechette said.

The Wild Frontier season begins March 19.
