Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is planning a stream alongside content creators such as Imane “Pokimane” Anys and Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker in order to bring awareness to the upcoming presidential election.
Recently, AOC reached out on Twitter to ask the gaming community who wanted to play Among Us, a social deduction game that has quickly gained popularity on Twitch and YouTube Gaming. Many prominent streamers replied to the tweet.
Anyone want to play Among Us with me on Twitch to get out the vote? (I’ve never played but it looks like a lot of fun)

Members of the gaming and streaming community, such as Rod Breslau, Jeremy “Disguised Toast” Wang, Daniel “Keemstar” Keem, James Charles, and Felicia Day, all responded wanting to play with the popular U.S. Representative. Not too long after, AOC started posting screenshots of her newly created Twitch account, announcing that something would be set up soon.
Today, folks learned that a stream is planned for October 20 at 9pm on her Twitch channel. The focus of the stream is to encourage people to vote.

The voting process in the United States is very different this year compared to previous years. Most states are handling the election via mail-in ballots and early voting. A lot of states have either passed or will soon bypass the last day to register to vote in the 2020 presidential election.
This is not AOC’s first rodeo in the world of gaming. Last year, she revealed her love for League of Legends. Her Silver IV rank puts her at about 15% higher than other LoL players. This year, AOC was also at the forefront of an issue that was brought to light on Twitch involving the military and their recruitment procedures on sites such as Twitch and YouTube Gaming.
AOC is bound to connect with younger people who might not be registered to vote, or are registered and are unsure of how to vote.
