Afreeca Freecs vs. Hanwha Life: 2021 LCK Spring betting analysis
Week 8 of the 2021 LCK Spring Split will kick off with a match between the Afreeca Freecs and surprise stalwart Hanwha Life, a team currently fighting for the top spot in the league.
The race for the playoffs in the LCK has really kicked off and Afreeca Freecs is right on the edge of climbing into the top 6 and earning a playoff bid. For that to happen, they will have to take down Hanwha Life, a hot team currently fighting for a spot in the top 3. Clearly, this is a very important match for both teams. With only five matches left for either side, mistakes are starting to be very expensive.
Afreeca Freecs has had a shaky split so far, currently sitting at a 4-9 record. While they are not out of playoffs contention yet, the final weeks will have to be better than what fans have seen so far. With experienced players including bot laner Bae “Bang” Jun-sik and mid laner Song “Fly” Yong-jun on the team, there should be enough leadership to rack up some wins. With that said, the individual level has not been good enough for the team, and that is easily punished in the LCK where the competition is tough.
For Hanwha Life, the split started out shaky before the team managed some big improvements. With a very young roster, it has taken some time to build up synergy. But there was never any doubt about the potential here. With experienced bot laner Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu leading the charge, the roster is starting to come together and can now go toe-to-toe with the best teams in Korea.
Hanwha Life is entering the match after a loss against Gen.G that set them back in the race for the top 3. Bouncing back against Afreeca Freecs will be crucial, and is very doable. Afreeca Freecs is on a losing streak of their own and it doesn’t look like the squad has found solutions to its problems as of yet.

Afreeca Freecs vs. Hanwha Life rosters
Afreeca Freecs roster:
- Top – Kim “Kiin” Gi-in
- Jungle – Lee “Dread” Jin-hyeok
- Mid – Song “Fly” Yong-jun
- Bot – Bae “Bang” Jun-sik
- Support – Son “Lehends” Si-woo / Kim “MapSSi” Do-yeong
Hanwha Life roster:
- Top – Park “Morgan” Gi-tae / Lee “DuDu” Dong-ju
- Jungle – Park “Arthur” Mi-reu / Kim “yoHan” Yo-han
- Mid – Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon
- Bot – Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu
- Support – Oh “Vsta” Hyo-seong
Afreeca Freecs is the underdog against Hanwha Life in the LCK
Based on recent performance and the current standings in the LCK, it’s Hanwha Life who is moving into this match as the favorite. The star-packed roster is expected to fight among the top three teams in the league, and to do so, beating Afreeca Freecs will be necessary. For Afreeca Freecs, the split has been inconsistent, but winning is still a possibility. Afreeca Freecs needs the win to chase the playoffs dream, but whether that’s enough to actually get a win seems unlikely.
This is why a win for Hanwha Life only gives an odds of 1.40 while a win for Afreeca gives odds is at odds 2.70.
The LCK match between Afreeca Freecs and Hanwha Life kicks off on March 11.
