Fnatic continues LEC playoff roll with wild win over Splyce
Fnatic came into the match highly favored after a convincing win against Team Vitality. Despite being the underdogs, Splyce put on a fight and exposed some of Fnatic’s weaknesses.
In game one, Splyce tried to surprise Fnatic with a Zoe pick in the bottom lane. The strategy didn’t work and Fnatic won the first set.
The second game would mark the start of the craziness. Splyce opted for a lane swap, sending bot laner Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup on Tristana and support Tore “Norskeren” Hoel Eilertsen on Braum to the top lane.
An early first blood gave the Splyce duo an edge in the early game as they then returned to the bottom lane. Splyce focused their aggression on the bottom lane from there, neutralizing Fnatic carry Martin “Rekkles” Larsson.
Fnatic mid laner Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek on Kayle tried to get his team back in the game, but the Splyce snowball was unstoppable. Kobbe once again put the weight of the squad on his shoulders and carried Splyce to victory.
In game three, Splyce attempted to repeat the early game pressure from the previous set, but Fnatic wouldn’t allow it.
Fnatic was patient and went for smart plays across the map. The squad waited for the opportunity to attack instead of jumping blindly into the action. Splyce defended admirably even with all three inhibitors down, but it was only staving off the inevitable as Fnatic eventually took the win.
At match point, the pick and bans took an unexpected turn. Kobbe locked in Veigar while Nemesis picked Vayne.
The double AD carry composition made for a bloody early game that favored Fnatic heavily. The game was overall messy, with players on either side going for flashy plays.
Despite the chaos, Fnatic scaled better and faster. Rekkles on Sivir was deadly and exactly what Fnatic needed to win game four and a pass to round three.
