Splyce is moving to round two of the LEC playoffs after defeating SK Gaming in four action-packed games.

Splyce and SK Gaming surprised in the LEC Spring Split with decisive wins throughout the regular season. In the playoffs, the squads fought long and hard in a series of games defined by chaotic team fights and baron power plays.

In game one, both teams introduced new meta picks. SK’s top laner Jorge “Werlyb” Casanovas played his first game of Hecarim, while Splyce jungler Andrei “Xerxe” Dragomir played fresh jungle choice Urgot.

The changes to Hecarim in patch 9.6 allowed Werlyb to roam freely and take over the mid-game. Both teams went blow-for-blow until SK secured a baron in the late game and used it to destroy the Splyce nexus.

Splyce changed its strategy in game two and drafted a composition with strong crowd control and multiple engagement options.

Top laner Tamás “Vizicsacsi” Kiss on Kennen was the key for Splyce’s first win of the series. The top laner was in the right place at the right time to end the team fights and give Splyce the decisive edge.

In the third set, it was time for Splyce bottom laner Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup to shine. Kobbe picked Vel’Koz, a champion that is usually played in the mid lane or as a mage support. This would be the quickest and most one-sided game of the series due to Splyce’s early snowballing and constant pressure across multiple lanes.

Facing a Splyce match point, SK decided to play more aggressively to force a bloody early game. Splyce never wavered and kept its own momentum going, always ready for a fight.

Kobbe was the hero that kept Splyce alive when SK looked to be in striking distance. Kobbe’s late game strength on Vayne, another popular pick following recent patches, was everything Splyce needed and more to get a win and move on to the next round.

In that next round, Splyce will face a stiff challenge in the form of Fnatic.
