Pokemon Unite is here, and there are more than 20 playable Pokemon to choose from for players. But where do they rank? Which Pokemon are best?

Given how many there are and that players need to be very choosy about which characters they purchase, it’s worth taking a deeper look at who the best Pokemon are in Pokemon Unite right now. Naturally, the best way to order things is a tier list. Which Pokemon should be at the top of players’ lists to buy with Aeos Coins? And which ones should be avoided in ranked? Here’s the post-Gardevoir Pokemon Unite tier list.

Pokemon Unite tier list after Gardevoir release

  • S Tier- Snorlax, Cinderace
  • A Tier- Slowbro, Lucario, Zeraora, Eldegoss, Alolan Ninetales
  • B Tier- Gardevoir, Gengar
  • C Tier- Cramorant, Absol, Machamp, Mr. Mime
  • D Tier- Venusaur, Garchomp, Pikachu, Greninja, Charizard
  • F Tier- Talonflame, Crustle, Wigglytuff

Because Pokemon Unite has a relatively limited number of characters in comparison to other MOBAs, the tier list basically boils down to how strong a Pokemon is in its respective role rather than purely on their own merit. Pokemon like Absol and Pikachu are both generally solid, but wind up in the D tier simply because they don’t compare to other speedsters and attackers, respectively.

That makes for a short list at the top, with the S and A tiers largely made up of the best characters in each role. The only real exceptions are Pokemon like Slowbro and Alolan Ninetales, who have strong fundamentals in their roles alongside crowd control options.

Snorlax, Cinderace are the best in Pokemon Unite

At the top of the first crop of Pokemon Unite characters are Snorlax and Cinderace. Both are incredibly impactful in their presence alone and can bully around the enemy team in different ways. Snorlax is oppressively tanky, with an amazing tool for clearing goals in Block. Cinderace doesn’t have an especially unusual kit, but stands out as a great damage dealer even when abilities are on cooldown.

Below those two are a number of strong Pokemon. Zeraora is the best speedster and is capable of blowing up enemies in a one-on-one situation while having a strong team fight ultimate. Eldegoss is a very strong support character that shines in high-level play, while Lucario is one of the few All-Rounders that actually lives up to the name by actually having a diverse assortment of strong abilities.

Gardevoir, Gengar could be top-tier picks in Pokemon Unite

Pokemon Unite’s second week of existence saw a change in the free character rotation that included Gengar, as well as the release of Gardevoir. Both these Pokemon could jump into the top tiers in the near future.

Gengar is likely Pokemon Unite’s strongest assassin, with the Sludge Bomb-Hex combo allowing it to quickly melt all but the tankiest of Pokemon. Time will tell if that burst damage potential is enough to make up for its shaky early game and relative lack of team fight potential, but the tools are there for Gengar to become a top-tier Pokemon.

Gardevoir is still new and its potential isn’t fully known at this point, but there are the makings of an exceptional attacker there. As with other three-stage Pokemon, the early game is a bit iffy for Gardevoir but after evolving and getting the upgraded attacks, it’s possible to dish out massive damage.

If the meta evolves in a way that favors them, they could easily make the climb into the top tiers.
