Valorant patch 3.01 brings Viper buffs, fixes ultimate
Viper's kit has seen a significant tweak in the recent patch 3.01, which wasn't mentioned in the notes.
The poisonous controller Viper's kit was recently buffed, making her one of the most picked agents in Valorant. Another subtle tweak to Viper's Pit in 3.01 will help players effectively utilize her ultimate in higher ranked games.

Patch 3.01 fixes Valorant ultimate
The agent can cover a large area and an entire bomb point on some maps using her poisonous Pit. She has one of the most powerful ultimates in Valorant protocol since it blocks out enemies and buys plenty of time. But, Viper's ultimate has a slight fault that can have negative repercussions in high elo queues.
Viper's Pit is effective, but the way her ultimate launches is risky for the agent. Viper is often left vulnerable against skilled and smart enemies. By pressing the X key, Viper would release a toxin, starting from her standing position. This would often reveal her angle to enemies, who could then easily spam through the gas and shut down the agent. The crosshair only determines the centre point of her gas, not where it starts from.
Streamer and content creator Lothar discovered that Riot Games has quietly buffed Viper by tweaking her ultimate. After patch 3.01, the agent can use her crosshair to determine the starting point of her gas. This will allow her to remain safe while initiating Viper's Pit. The agent will now be able to trigger gas from different angles and cover a large area without revealing her position.
This wasn't necessarily a bug since this is how Viper's ultimate generally worked before the latest patch. However, it put her at a significant disadvantage as she'd mostly lose her ultimate points and HP by activating the ultimate and dying instantly. This slight buff will help Viper mains squeeze the full juice out of her poisonous toolkit.
