A Dota 2 icon has been thrown off of Twitch, at least for a little while.

Danil “Dendi” Ishutin has been banned from Twitch. The champion of The International 2011 and namesake of the DendiFace emoji on Twitch will be taking a vacation for an unknown length of time, according to StreamerBans:

Fans of Dendi were perplexed by the news as his stream tends to be positive, upbeat, and not at all controversial. There were questions abound over what could have prompted a ban with no immediate answer available. The only real theory fans could come up with was that it stemmed from DMCA claims on Dendi’s account, a theory that has been put forward for any given streamer ban with no clear explanation.

If past is precedent, Twitch will not give any public explanation for why Dendi was banned and fans will not know how long it will last for until Dendi announces it. As of this writing, Dendi has not yet put out a statement on the news.

There is no word on whether the ban may be permanent, but odds are that Dendi will be back in a week or less.

How much is Dendi worth?

Dendi’s career prize pool winnings in Dota 2 total $802,149. However, his exact net worth is unknown. Though he has earned a fair bit from prize pools it is unclear what his salary was with Natus Vincere during his nine-year run with the team. It was likely sizable given his stature and popularity within the scene throughout the game’s history.

Did Dendi quit Dota?

Dendi is still an active player in the Dota 2 esports scene. He split off from Natus Vincere in 2019 and began competing in local CIS tournaments afterwards. This laid the foundation for him to start his own organization, B8.

Unfortunately, Dendi’s teams since leaving Na`Vi have consistently struggled. B8 endured a historically bad losing streak in 2020 and struggled in the Dota Pro Circuit, getting relegated after the first ESL One CIS league. From there, Dendi merged with members of XactJlepbI to retain their spot in the league. The new lineup performed better, but still barely avoided relegation by going 3-4.
