World of Warcraft personality Asmongold is not a fan of the new ASMR and leggings meta on Twitch. And he’s letting everyone know it.

Twitch’s Just Chatting section has been a huge source of controversy the past year thanks to the growing popularity of the “hot tub meta.” This saw bikini-clad streamers sitting in blow-up pools as they talked to their chat, often doing sexually suggestive things to get more subscribers to their channel or to advertise their more explicit OnlyFans accounts.

The controversy grew so prominent that Twitch decided to speak up on the matter, essentially telling people to just “not look” if they didn’t like the content. The streaming platform then made an entirely new category for the content, called “Pools, Hot Tubs, & Beaches.” Twitch’s acceptance of the meta had many in the streaming community worried, claiming that Twitch would continue to play host to sexual content that arguably took away from the platform’s original intention.

Those same people are concerned that’s exactly what’s been happening with Twitch’s new ASMR and leggings meta.

Asmongold comments on ASMR and leggings meta on Twitch

ASMR is a term used to describe content dedicated to creating pleasing sounds for viewers to listen to, oftne to relax. But Twitch streamers have recently taken ASMR to a whole new level, often laying on all fours in front of the camera and licking microphones, or even farting into the mic when viewers ask.

While many viewers are not complaining about the content, others are continuing to demand action from Twitch. Asmongold is in the latter camp. He recently tweeted about the emerging meta on Twitter.

“Twitch wrote themselves into a corner by playing into the intellectually dishonest rhetoric that they won’t punish ‘perceived attractiveness’ of streamers who make obviously sexual content,” Asmongold said.

Asmongold essentially felt that Twitch’s acceptance of sexual content has made the platform even more likely to attract more of that style of content. Instead of addressing the “obviously sexual content,” Asmongold proposed that Twitch has pushed “dishonest rhetoric” that attractive streamers shouldn’t be punished for being seen as “hot.” The usual complaints aren’t that a streamer is attractive, however, and focus more on the integrity of the platform and the sexually explicit actions of certain content creators.

The is that streamers will continue to find ways to make similarly suggestive content if Twitch attempts to make any smaller tweaks at this point. Many of Asmongold’s fans asked for Twitch to create a separate category for adult content that’s heavily moderated, keeping it away from Twitch’s usual gaming content.
