coldzera out of FaZe Clan roster ahead of BLAST Premier Spring

Ace rifler Marcelo "coldzera" David will no longer be stalking the servers for FaZe Clan. The professional player has announced his removal from the active roster.

FaZe's former in-game leader Coldzera has announced his departure from the starting lineup on Twitter after reports saying he was set to depart the team. The Brazillian rifler revealed that the team's declining performance had caused him to explore new options outside of FaZe Clan.

FaZe Clan hasn't been able to catch a breath since transferring Nikola "NiKo" Kovač to G2 Esports in the biggest signing in esports history. The shocking move left Coldzera in charge of FaZe Clan's Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster that had struggled with leadership for years. With NiKo out, the responsibility fell onto the shoulders of Coldzera who was openly hesitant about taking up the role.

The team went through several shuffles. Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken's bombshell signing filled the firepower void, and former FaZe Clan in-game leader Finn "karrigan" Andersen returned after two years. The changes were expected to patch up feeble FaZe Clan, but no significant improvements have come to this point.

The team's debut with Twistzz at Blast Premier was promising, and the team looked like it was gelling in IEM Katowice 2021. However, FaZe Clan's declined drastically at Flashpoint 3, where FaZe failed to take down what should have been lesser teams. The karrigan-led roster currently sits at 25th in the world rankings after an underwhelming showing at the first Regional Major Ranking event of the year.

So far, the changes and shuffles haven't shown results, and it seems FaZe isn't done with its continuous overhaul. Coldzera has been one of the few steady figures in FaZe Clan over the last two years since joining in 2019 from MIBR. Despite his varied contributions to FaZe Clan, the Brazilian player will be taking his leave from the team.

The pro player hasn't announced his future plans, but there are a long list of possible landing spots for him around the world. As for FaZe Clan, the organization should reveal a new player soon. The team is set to play Natus Vincere at the BLAST Premier Spring Final on June 16.
