20 days of world-class Counter-Strike will conclude when the Flashpoint 3 grand final kicks off between mousesports and Ninjas in Pyjamas.

One of two teams that are long on history but short on recent results will walk away with a trophy and a good chunk of RMR points for the upcoming PGL Stockholm Major. Both teams have made recent changes to their rosters and are now starting to look like some of the best teams in the world. Most notable is NiP, which picked up Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz from Astralis a little over a month ago, while mousesports have added both Christopher “dexter” Nong and Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand this year.

Throughout the tournament, mousesports has been the most dominant team with a current win streak of 10 maps in a row. This left mousesports undefeated throughout the event with wins over the likes of Astralis and G2 Esports. With stellar play from David “frozen” Čerňanský and Robin “ropz” Kool, mousesports is once again starting to look like a world-class team.

The same goes for NiP, which has gone through some growing pains since adding dev1ce. After some shaky games, the team has now found a solid pace over the last three rounds in Flashpoint 3. The Danish star is looking like a great fit for the team alongside Frederik “REZ” Sterner.

On paper, the match between mousesports and NiP could be really close. mousesports has an edge in recent form and map win rates. On an individual level, NiP should have a fairly big advantage in AWP duels, as dev1ce is currently performing at a higher level than acoR. The two Danes will be the matchup to watch in this final, as the hottest AWP’er will likely be able to decide many rounds.

The edge for mousesports lies in ropz and frozen, who are both looking like scary riflers at the moment. It’s hard to imagine that the players of NiP can keep up with that if one of the two hits their A-game in the final. This means that NiP can’t only rely on dev1ce to find openings, but will also need REZ to show up like he has done previously in Flashpoint.

A close final like this will start to be decided right in the vetoes. Expect NiP to look for either Dust 2 or Mirage, as those have been solid maps for the team so far. For mousesports, the map pool seems a bit wider and could go many ways. Their best current map is looking to be either Inferno or Nuke, where NiP will likely have a rough time.

A close final is expected between mousesports and NiP

Based on recent performances, this final could really go both ways and the odds show. With both teams steadily improving throughout the tournament, it’s hard to imagine that it won’t be a close match that will likely go to all three maps. On paper, mousesports has the edge with its current win streak of 10 maps and overall map statistics. mousesports has a better win rate on all maps, which will give them a lot of freedom in the vetoes. With that said, NiP is ramping up with dev1ce starting to find his place on the server among the Swedes.

In this match, mousesports will be slight favorites with an odds of 1.71. A win for NiP will give slightly higher odds of 2.00. All in all, this could potentially be one of the closest finals of the year with two finalists that are both on the rise

The Flashpoint 3 grand final between mousesports and NiP kicks off on Sunday, May 30.
