DWG KIA isn’t only looking strong at the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational, but the players are also crushing it on the EUW solo queue ladder.

Of all the competitors at MSI, jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu was the one to climb the fastest as he has just reached rank 1 on the server. Canyon is known for being a strong solo queue player, setting a scary pace whenever he put his mind into climbing. For MSI 2021, players want as much practice as possible and playing solo queue is one of the best ways to keep their mechanics on point.

A DWG KIA player reaching rank 1 while being at the MSI 2021 isn’t a surprise, but the pace of Canyon’s climb is definitely impressive. The super-star jungler has played a total of 133 games and won 65% of those, according to op.gg. This win rate is scary at the ranks Canyon is playing at.

In rank 2 is Vitality support Labros “Labrov” Papoutsakis, who is sitting at a 60% win rate over 382 games this season. Canyon is already over 20 points ahead of Labrov, so the native European players might not get rank 1 back before Canyon and the rest of DWG KIA are done at MSI 2021.

What champions does Canyon play in solo queue?

In his solo queue games, Canyon has been playing a surprising amount of top lane. His most-played champion is Jayce with 25 games played, all of them being from the top lane. Canyon has also practiced the jungle, where he has dominated with current meta champions such as Morgana, Rumble, and Nidalee.

The champion he has had the most success on so far is Rumble, with an 80% win rate over 15 games. Rumble is currently one of the most coveted picks at MSI as well, where several players have showcased his strength in the jungle. Rumble in the jungle became a viable option after LoL patch 11.8, where Riot provided big buffs to his Junkyard Titan (P) and Electro Harpoon (E).

Canyon and the rest of DWG KIA finished the first round-robin segment of the MSI group stage 3-0, with wins over Cloud9, DetonatioN FocusMe, and Infinity Esports. It’s looking like the LCK champions will go deep in the tournament and they currently look like a favorite to win it all alongside LPL’s Royal Never Give Up.

Canyon and DWG KIA will play their last MSI group stage games on May 11.
