Cloud9 reportedly target k0nfig and JUGi to replace kioShiMa

According to a report on Dexerto, Cloud9 will be making a dramatic roster change in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

The North American esports organization is expected to part ways with rifler Fabian “kioShiMa” Fiey. Most fan predictions have the French player joining Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom, who is separately reported to be forming a new CS:GO squad under the TSM banner.

Cloud9 is looking to respond to the news by snagging Danish players Kristian “k0nfig” Weinecke and Jakob “JUGi” Hansen from OpTic Gaming. The move will split up OpTic’s fully Danish roster, which has played a second fiddle to the success of all-Danish team Astralis in its home country.

Should the move go through, k0nfig and JUGi will join Timothy “autimatic” Ta, William “RUSH” Wierzba, and Maikil “Golden” Selim. Golden was added back to the roster after Robin “flusha” Ronnquist departed the roster after they exited IEM Katowice 2019. Golden had previously dealt with health issues that prevented him from participating in the most recent CS:GO major.

Cloud9 are still looking to find the ultimate success they found at the ELEAGUE Boston Major in 2018. They looked to be on the right path following a third-place finish in BLAST Pro Series Lisbon 2018 and a second-place finish at the ELEAGE CS:GO Invitational 2019, but that progress didn’t translate into a podium showing at IEM Katowice 2019. The team finished 9th after a 0-2 loss to FaZe Clan.

Now the team will be tasked with another rebuild. The orgabuzatuib still hasn’t found its footing after losing Jake “Stewie2k” Yip, Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham, and Tarik “tarik” Celik in the months following its major victory. Only RUSH and autimatic remain from the roster that handed North America that first major championship in the history of CS:GO.

It could take a while for Cloud9 to regain its former glory, and having a consistent roster will be the first step on the road back.
