Bwipo confirms he is not extending his Fnatic contract

After recent rumors that both Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau and Oskar "Selfmade" Boderek have turned down contract extensions, Fnatic's top laner today used his live stream to confirm that he has indeed turned down negotiations with the veteran organization.

Having been with the side since initially joining as a substitute in 2018, Bwipo has been considered one of Europe's best top laners and his team's performance level can often be reliant on both his and Selfmade. With both currently under contract until November 2021, Bwipo has become the first of the two to speak out on the new rumors.

"Not extending contract?" a member of Bwipo's chat asked.

"No I'm not," the Belgian swiftly responded.

When quizzed on the reasons for his decision, Bwipo added that ,"I just didn't think I performed very well and I don't want to be on a team like Fnatic if I didn't perform well."

What will Bwipo do after leaving Fnatic?

Bwipo went on to add that he has "other options maybe lined up," which fans have immediately speculated could be analyst desk features. After Fnatic dropped out of LEC Spring playoffs earlier this split, Bwipo joined the analyst desk to cover the final two series and his appearance was met with a warm reception.

Despite confirming that he has turned down recent negotiations, the two-time LEC champion went on to dampen expectations of his departure by saying that "I want to keep my cards open," possibly hinting that his mind is not completely made up about leaving.

If Bwipo does depart the team, it would leave support Zdravets "Hylissang" Iliev Galabov as the final member of their last LEC winning roster in 2018, a season which saw the team make it to the World Championship final in Incheon in 2018.
