Dota Plus update brings a new companion app to the service
Amidst the new Dota Pro Circuit season, Dota Plus subscribers received exciting news from game developer Valve.
The Dota Plus companion app has been released, and is called Dota Pro Circuit. The new application is divided into four pillars: News Feed, Predictions, Fantasy, and Tournaments.
News Feed can be tailored to the subscriber’s preference by tagging favorite teams and players. This will help the app to identify which matches and profiles should be prominently featured in the customized feed. The news feed also displays real-time updates on match results, roster changes, and upcoming matches.
The predictions section features upcoming matches for users to predict. They can also wager personal shards earned from Dota Plus games to potentially win more. Shards are automatically kept up-to-date and in sync between both the Dota Pro Circuit and Dota 2 applications.
Aside from predicting the tournament match winners, users can also participate in the Fantasy Challenge. Subscribers can build their own fantasy roster assembled from various pro players and compete with other users to gain even more shards.
The Tournament tab highlights both the previous and ongoing Dota Pro Circuit events. It also details all information for any particular tournament, such as participating teams, qualifier results, group stage results, and results from the main event.
Other notable features in the new Dota Pro Circuit app include player profiles, live minimap information, picks and bans, hero statistics, and net worth graphs.
The application is highly similar to other Dota 2 statistics websites such as TrackDota and DOTABUFF. Valve’s addition to the Dota Plus service does increase the value of subscriptions, bringing much of this information to one place with an app tailored to address a user’s specific interests.
Players can opt in for a monthly Dota Plus subscription for $3.99 per month.
