Now more than two years old, Apex Legends has hit more than 100 million unique players.

Respawn Entertainment tweeted the news on Wednesday, thanking fans for helping Apex Legends hit this impressive milestone. The tweet was accompanied by a montage of legends and popular streamers and pro players enjoying the game.

“We’re just getting started,” Respawn added.

Apex Legends has been continuously growing since it was launched in 2019. In less than a month, Apex Legends reached 50 million players. Growth slowed after its surprise launch but the game continues to climb. As Apex Legends has hosted new events and launched on new platforms, it has only become more popular.

According to Steam Charts, Apex Legends has peaked at over 200,000 concurrent players on Steam on a few occasions and the game routinely hovers in or around the top-five most-active games on the platform. That 200,000 count doesn’t include those playing through EA Games’ Origin DRM or anyone playing on consoles. Exact player counts are unknown, but Apex Legends is most likely the third-most-popular battle royale title in the world at this time behind only Fortnite and PUBG Mobile.

Apex Legends Season 9 is set to start on May 4.

That’s cause to celebrate for Apex Legends players, as it will most likely see the game add more new content to the battle royale. Not much has been said about the upcoming season, but big changes are definitely in store. This includes updates to existing agents and a new map. The game currently has a bunch of new limited-time game modes to keep their 100 million players entertained while they await the big update.
