FalleN is upset at his fans calling s1mple a baiter
During a late night stream, Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo defended Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev when the former's viewers called the Ukrainian superstar a baiter.
The exchange happened when FalleN was analyzing a clip of s1mple playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in the FACEIT Pro League. s1mple was playing on Dust 2 and instructed his teammates to take A-long. While they distracted the defense, he rushed through mid and caught the opponents off guard. FalleN explained what was happening and how this tactic worked. While doing so, he noticed some of his viewers calling s1mple a baiter in his chat. The Brazilian AWPer immediately jumped to s1mple's defense.
"How is this a baiter tactic?" FalleN asked. "The dude (s1mple) literally entered mid-doors and peeked with the AWP."
FalleN used a soccer analogy to explain what that s1mple did every single part of that play.
"He made the corner kick and scored the goal. You are making a joke if you call him a baiter," FalleN said.
Getting accused of being a baiter is a sensitive subject for CSGO pros. Baiting means that a player is letting their teammates die so that they can get more frags in a game. Some pro players see it as an insult and an unjustified criticism of a more passive playstyle.
Have s1mple and FalleN ever played together?
While never playing together in an official match, s1mple and FalleN were once close to being teammates. At the start of 2018, MIBR was looking to add international players to its lineup. MIBR contacted s1mple and Fnatic's Freddy "KRiMZ" Johansson, but didn't manage to make an agreement with the Swedish rifler. s1mple was more receptive, and proposed his teammate in Natus Vincere Egor "flamie" Vasilyev as a second recruit.
According to Ricardo "dead" Sinigaglia, MIBR's manager at the time, s1mple pulled out of the deal at the last second. dead said that the flamie was already at the airport awaiting his flight to join the team in North America when he heard of s1mple's decision, after which flamie also withdrew. MIBR eventually singed Cloud9's Jake "Stewie2K" Yip instead of s1mple.
