She's currently the top female streamer on Twitch with over 7.5 million followers and an average concurrent viewership of over 18,000 per stream. While her broadcasts are usually positive and bubbly, Pokimane has also been at the center of a lot of controversies and drama over the course of her streaming career.
Pokimane is currently 24 years old. Her birthday is May 14, 1996. She was born in Morocco and her parents moved to Canada soon after her birth. She grew up able to speak both English and French fluently. Pokimane has one brother.

Fedmyster had claimed Pokimane wanted Yvonnie gone because she wasn't doing her job correctly, but Pokimane contended that was never the case. On top of that, Fedmyster had been accused of harassing Yvonnie during her time at the OfflineTV house.

Fedmyster isn't the only boyfriend that Pokimane has been rumored to have. Content creator Cameron "Fitz" McKay made a joke that led to Pokimane having to call out people harassing her about allegedly dating Fitz. She noted that Fitz later apologized for making the joke that led to her being bullied and sexually harassed online.

In the past, Pokimane has stated that she likes to keep her personal life private. But that didn't stop fans from speculating if she had a boyfriend or not. Many people accused her of pretending to be single in order to trick desperate men into donating to her. But Pokimane addressed these rumors in a YouTube video that she made during a month-long break from streaming.

Pokimane took a few months off from Twitch in 2020. The streamer cited burnout at the time. On August 5, Pokimane explained that she was taking a break for the first time in six years of streaming due to a lack of motivation. She missed her family, attending conventions, traveling, and meeting fans in person.
During the break, Pokimane decided to make a video addressing some drama between her and other YouTubers. But she kept true to her plan of a 40-day absence from Twitch. When she returned, Pokimane received a warm welcome. She received 1,519 new subscriptions on September 11, the day of her first stream. Twitch Tracker also reported that Pokimane's 15-hour return stream had almost 36,000 concurrent viewers at its peak.

Pokimane got in trouble with Twitch when she accidentally showed a pornographic pop-up during a live stream. Twitch sent Pokimane a warning email, which the streamer said she "deserved." But for many in the streaming community, the warning wasn't enough. Many other streamers, most of them men, have received bans ranging from three days to over a month for accidentally showing similarly sexually explicit clips.
