Viego will continue to be disabled throughout the 2021 LEC Spring Split playoffs because of bugs that remain unfixed.

It has been over two months since Viego first entered League of Legends, and he is yet to make his debut on the competitive scene. Usually, Viego would be enabled in pro play just a couple of weeks after his release, but this hasn’t been the case. Because of several game-breaking bugs, Viego continues to be too unstable for pro play. This means that he won’t be available in the upcoming LEC playoff and the same likely goes for the other major regions as well.

Despite being a coveted pick in solo queue since release, fans will have to wait for a bit longer before the professional players get to showcase him. As of right now, it seems that the Ruined King won’t see his debut before the Mid-Season Invitational in May.

It’s a rare sight that a new champion takes this long to be enabled in professional play, but the case of Viego is extreme. After his release, players have found countless game-breaking bugs. Some bugs have caused Viego to gain an infinite amount of ability power, while others have caused the game to completely crash. Bugs such as these would be a pain to see in pro play and could potentially ruin the viewing experience. Looking at solo queue popularity, Viego would likely end up as a priority pick in most major leagues around the world, making it even riskier to enable Viego.

It’s unknown when Riot will enable Viego as there are still bugs to be fixed.

Which role is Viego in LoL?

Viego is designed for the jungle role but is also viable in both the mid and top lane. As of patch 11.5, Viego is strongest in the mid lane with a stable 50.89% win rate. In the jungle, Viego is fielding a 49.27% win rate and 48.69% in the top lane, making Viego a reasonable flex pick.

When is the 2021 LEC Spring Split playoffs?

The first LEC playoffs of 2021 kick off on Friday, March 26. The first weekend of playoffs will include three best-of-five series in which all six playoff teams will get to show their strength. The grand final is scheduled for April 11 and will have the players playing live in the studio for the first time since the 2020 LEC Spring Split.
