Last-minute recruit Tyson “TenZ” Ngo’s pistol kills against Luminosity Gaming have the teams set to compete against Sentinels feeling scared in the upcoming Valorant Champions Tour: North America competition.

One of the favourites in VCT, Sentinels took a major hit ahead of Masters One when star player Jay “sinatraa” Won was accused of abuse by his ex-girlfriend Cleo. sinatraa was barred from playing in the Valorant Masters event, pushing Sentinels to hunt for a viable replacement at the eleventh hour. The team pulled TenZ out of his competitive break, putting him on a roster alongside Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan, Hunter “SicK” Mims, Michael “dapr” Gulino, and Jared “zombs” Gitlin.

TenZ successfully carried the team to the first win in Valorant Champions Tour Masters One, finishing the game as match MVP. His pistol four kills on the decider map Icebox proved that TenZ is indeed back in action.

With a Frenzy on him, TenZ fearlessly ran inside bomb point A while supported by Sova’s drone, clearing out right-side angles for him. Not taking Omen’s cover into account, the player pushed through the smoke towards A-screens, landing a first kill on Kaleb “moose” Jayne. Brady thief Dever’s tried to avenge his teammate, but that only earned him a jumping spray from TenZ on rafters. TenZ player was unforgiving as he pounced over whoever came in his way. He landed another smooth kill on Alex “aproto” Protopapas and then a fourth onto Brenden “stellar” McGrath, adding to his scoreboard total. His last three kills happened within a span of five seconds, and he was an unstoppable force for the rest of the game.

This added 10 to the team’s scoreboard, bringing Sentinels closer to victory. From there, Luminosity Gaming was only able to win three more rounds, dropping out at 6-13 to Sentinels.

Sinatraa’s last-minute replacement TenZ finishes the match as MVP

TenZ was brought in two days before the big game for Sentinels, and despite the lack of practice, the player managed to top the charts. The 19-year-old finished the first game with Sentinels with a 1.55 rating across three maps.

The young star experimented with three different duelists, one of which he’s rarely ever seen playing in Reyna. TenZ’s main agents heavily clashed with Shahzam, which is why both the players compromised on different maps. The in-game leader played Sova for the first time on Ascent map so that TenZ could shine with his main duelist Jett. A lot of adjustment came from Sentinels’ four players, who tried to accommodate their new shooter into their roster. The effort paid off as the team successfully made it through its first match without crucial player sinatraa.
