Evil Geniuses has announced Owen “oBo” Schlatter as the newest addition to their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster.

The 17-year-old joins the lineup after having left Complexity Gaming. oBo initially benched himself in September 2020 to return to the United States. The American rifler had been competing with Complexity in Europe and cited the long time spent away from home and in uncertainty as the main reason for his departure. The team eventually released him at the end of January 2021.

Following his departure, oBo expressed his desire to play for a team based in the United States, but said he was willing to spend extended periods of time in Europe. With Evil Geniuses, he has now found a roster that meets his criteria. While the team is currently competing in Europe, it is set to return to the US after the conclusion of the ESL Pro League Season 13.

oBo will debut for Evil Geniuses at ESL Pro League

In Evil Geniuses’ lineup, he will fill the gap left by Ethan “Ethan” Arnold’s departure earlier this week. Ethan left the team to pursue a career in Valorant, signing for 100 Thieves. It’s the first roster move for the team in over two years, breaking up one of the longest-standing rosters in CSGO. The roster has been relatively successful in the past, notably winning ESL One New York 2019 and Starseries i-League Season 8 and peaking at the top spot in the world rankings for CSGO.

oBo will make his debut for Evil Geniuses in the ESL Pro League. The team has been placed in Group D alongside big names including Astralis and Team Liquid. EG has had a disappointing run of form in recent events, with early eliminations in both DreamHack Open January and IEM Katowice 2021.

Evil Geniuses now has to following players: on its roster:

  • Tarik “tarik” Celik
  • Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte
  • Tsvetelin “cerq” Dimitrov
  • Owen “oBo” Schlatter
  • Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz
