The latest version of the League of Legends player ranking is out, and it shows a change at the top as well as some completely new faces in the top 10.

Leagues around the world are closing in on the first playoffs of the year, after many exciting matches in store in the four major leagues. With this many matches playing out each week, a lot is still happening in the LoL rankings as players are fighting to showcase the best versions of themselves. With the recent announcement of the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational in Iceland on top of that, every player is hungrier than ever to represent their respective region at the first international event of 2021.

ShowMaker is back on top of LoL player rankings

The battle for the top spot on the ranking between DWG KIA mid laner Heo “ShowMaker” Su and FunPlus Phoenix top laner Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon is continuing, and this time it is ShowMaker who regains the spot.

It’s not many months since the two played together on DWG KIA, but now they are already duking it out in the rankings and just waiting to potentially clash at the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational. For now, ShowMaker is back on top of the standings after continuing to win with DWG KIA in the South Korean LCK.

ShowMaker and DWG KIA are looking completely unstoppable domestically. The team is on a whopping nine-series winning streak, placing them at the top of the standings in the LCK with a nearly flawless 11-1 record. If ShowMaker continues his dominance, he might be looking at another LCK trophy in the upcoming months.

G2 Esports’ Jankos enter the LoL player ranking top 10

The only new face in this version of the player ranking is G2 Esports jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski. The veteran jungler has been performing great so far in the 2021 LEC Spring Split, showing that he should still be considered one of the strongest players in Europe. In G2’s most recent game against Fnatic, Jankos completely ran over his opposition on Olaf, resulting in a 12/0/6 scoreline.

His performance on Olaf is just one of many great performances. Together with the rest of G2, Jankos is placed at the top of the LEC standings with an 11-2 record. The only team that can keep up right now is Rogue, but that might soon change. G2 and Rogue will clash to start off week 7 of the regular split, and that game could decide who the favorite in the upcoming playoffs will be.

Jankos will be there to perform in the game against Rogue, looking to climb even further on the ranking if he pops off once again.

LCS players absent from the top 10

The tough competition from several big regions, it’s hard work to make it into top 10. This is clear for the LCS players, who are not represented in the current top 10. With players from the LCK, LPL, and LEC dominating the standings, the LCS players are left out and will have to grind their way towards the top.

The highest-ranked LCS player is Cloud9’s mid laner Luka “Perkz” Perković, currently ranked as the 14th best player in the world. So far, he has led C9 to the top position in the LCS and will likely be the big favorite going into the playoff qualification for MSI 2021. If Perkz keeps performing in the upcoming weeks, fans might see him break into the top 10 as the only LCS player.
