OG may miss ONE Singapore Major after trolling goes wrong

OG is a Dota 2 team beloved by fans and respected by competitors for their aggressive playstyle and incredibly strong reads on the meta. The organization, including three members of the team’s current roster, used those skills and savvy to become the first ever two-time The International champions. They have a legacy that nobody in Dota 2, and very few in esports, can hope to match.

But boy, did they royally screw up today in DreamLeague Season 14.

Playing against Team Liquid, OG turned a team fight into a successful Roshan attempt. The trouble is that OG captain Johan “N0tail” Sundstein wanted to give Aegis of the Immortal on Topias Miikka "Topson" Taavitsainen, who was pushing out the bottom lane at the time. Instead of just letting Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng take it, OG instead decided to wait for N0tail’s Recall spell to come off cooldown.

As OG just stood around in the Roshan pit, Max "qojqva" Brocker simply sent some of his Lycan wolves into the pit and broke the aegis. Tips, chat wheel spam, and questions of “how did this happen?” followed. OG went on to lose the game, and drop the series 2-1 to Liquid.

OG may miss ONE Esports Singapore Major after loss to Team Liquid

OG’s players are very willing to make silly plays or even grief one another in the middle of a match at The International when they think they can get away with it. The trouble is that this was neither the time nor the place to make such a troll-like play.

Sitting around the Aegis came when OG and Team Liquid were neck-and-neck in farm. Not only that, but it was in the deciding game of a best-of-three series. The kicker is that OG isn’t even currently positioned for a spot in the upcoming ONE Esports Singapore Major

OG, Team Nigma, and Team Liquid are in a three-way tie in the standings at 3-3 in DreamLeague Season 14. OG is currently sitting at the bottom of the three after tiebreakers due to the team’s 8-9 record on maps compared to Liquid’s 7-7 record and Nigma’s 8-8.

In order to qualify for the ONE Esports Singapore Major, OG needs to win its last game of the season and get a bit lucky in terms of how other games break. That’s not ideal under any circumstances, but making matters worse is that OG’s final game of the season comes against the undefeated Team Secret.

OG vs. Team Secret is set to take place on February 24.
