100 Thieves Luger, the next great Turkish import

Reading time: 2 min

As the LCS Academy regular season comes to a close, many fans of the league are wondering who 100 Thieves new bot laner, Fatih “Luger” Güven, is and where he came from. The Turkish national is a relatively new addition to the 100 Thieves side, signing last year but only playing with the team in its last three games.

In those three games Luger put up impressive statistics, ending the season with a 5.7 KDA and a 11/1/10 scoreline in the team’s final game on Miss Fortune.

Who is 100 Thieves’ Luger?

Luger 100 Thieves

Before coming over to America, Luger was a participant in the Turkish scene. He competed in the TCL as well as the league’s second-tier division. The 19-year-old bot laner has been playing professionally since 2017 and has made the rounds in the TCL.

He has played for seven different Turkish teams, most notatbly playing for Dark Passage, Beşiktaş Esports, Galakticos, and 1907 Fenerbahçe. In his time playing in his home league, Luger made the TCL playoffs three times with his highest placement in the Galakticos organization at third place.

Lugar played with other talents like current SK mid laner Ersin “Blue” Gören, Misfits top laner Shin “HiRit” Tae-min and MAD Lions captain Marek “Humanoid” Brázda.

Expectations for Luger in the LCS 2021

Luger is only 19 but has more accolades and experience than some of his counterparts in the LCS Academy league. While he hasn’t shown his entire range in terms of a carry player, he has impressed in the three games that he has participated in.

Another good sign for the young professional is the organization he is tied to. The 100 Thieves Academy, and its amateur squad 100 Thieves Next, are notorious for churning out talented players. While the organization is known more for finding North American talent, Luger is definitely on the level of players like Aaron “FakeGod” Lee and Max “Soligo” Soong, both of whom have found starting spots in the LCS.

Luger has also crossed paths with other young stars that have just been given starting spots in the LEC, so his talent is very recognizable. Will fans see him in the LCS soon? Only time will tell, but the Turkish talent passes the statistics and eye test for many analysts and of course the 100 Thieves franchise.
