Complexity's k0nfig scored the best clutch of IEM Katowice 2021
In a match against Ninjas and Pyjamas, Complexity's Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke stole the spotlight with an impressive molotov clutch.
Ninjas in Pyjamas advanced through the IEM Katowice 2021 play-in stage, but were on the bad end of one of the event's most impressive plays. The team dispatched "the juggernaut" in a one-sided match, but k0nfig's smooth play on Nuke outshone the Ninjas in Pyjamas.
The Swedes entered the server looking sharper than ever, bagging the pistol round with ease. NiP stumbled a bit as they gave away some rounds Complexity's cunning plays, despite a bright start. Hampus "hampus" Poser and company soon caught up and evened the score 3-3. A fiery clutch from k0nfig one-upped Ninjas in Pyjamas' tighter teamwork, as he sneaked two kills in with an AK-47 while standing in fire to steal a round.
Complexity's damaged economy kept them from a full buy in that round. The team had to settle on pistols and utility to resist NiP. Benjamin "blameF" Bremer's call to stack B site was spot-on as NiP made a beeline for ramp, but Complexity's positioning collapsed once NiP entered the site. However, k0nfig lurked around in Nuke's dark and waited for his moment.
A pistol kill on hampus was an injection of confidence and was enough to get him an AK-47, but he was still in a very awkward position. Tim "nawwk" Jonasson's molotov should've fried k0nfig to death, but the player took a leap of faith and ran halfway through the fire. The decision worked out for him as he took down Nicolas "Plopski" Gonzalez and nawwk in a smooth spray. k0nfig did die in nawwk's fire, but only after winning the fourth round for Complexity.
