Apex Legends hits 50 million players in its first month

Apex Legends has officially reached a total of more than 50 million players worldwide within its first month of release.

The news was shared by the official Apex Legends Twitter account, which thanked players for their support with an accompanying video.

The video created by developer Respawn Entertainment shared a number of statistics achieved by the game on top of the landmark announcement.

During the last month, players have made use of a total of 158 million finishers and have activated an amazing 1.23 billion ultimate abilities. The game’s successful ping system, which allows players to quickly call out the locations of loot and enemies to their allies, has been used by players over 31 billion times.

The 50 million player landmark was presumed by many to be announced soon due to the incredible success of Apex Legends thus far. Developer Respawn has made previous announcements remaking on the game’s immense growth. Publisher Electronic Arts also confirmed that 2.5 million players had tried the game on just the first day of release, with a total peak of 600,000 concurrent players that day.

With such popularity surrounding the game, Respawn Entertainment is currently under pressure to release the game’s first battle or season pass, which will allow players to pay a small free for the chance to complete in a ranked mode and may also include unique prizes.

Apex Legends is a battle royale title that is free to play on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. While being free no doubt helped the game to achieve such high numbers so quickly, Apex Legends is often compared to a similarly successful battle royale game, Fortnite.

Like Apex Legends, Fortnite is a free-to-play battle royale game available on both PC and consoles. In comparison to the four weeks that Apex Legends took to reach the 50 million player mark, Fortnite took a little under four months to hit the same milestone.
